Interpolating Camera Transitions
Interpolation functions can be added to the interval between keyframes to smooth camera transitions, or to emphasize the beginning, middle, or end of a camera transition. See Working in Advanced Mode for information about adding interpolation functions to other key value transitions, such as opacity, lighting effects, and gradients.
The following interpolation functions are available for camera transitions:
| Description | |
|---|---|
|
Linear |
The following linear interpolations can be applied to create smooth camera transitions between selected keyframes. Linear interpolation… Applies a linear interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. Smooth linear interpolation… Applies a smooth linear interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. Spherical linear interpolation… Applies a spherical linear interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. |
|
Boolean |
The following Boolean interpolations can be applied to emphasize the start, end, or middle of camera transitions between selected keyframes. Focus on start value… Emphasizes the start value by producing an abrupt transition, from the start values to the end values, that occurs at the end of the interval. Focus on end value… Emphasizes the end value by producing an abrupt transition, from the start values to the end values, that occurs at the start of the interval. Bisection… Emphasizes the middle value by producing an abrupt transition, from the start values to the end values, that occurs at the midpoint of the interval. |
|
Spline |
The following spline interpolations can be applied to camera transitions between selected keyframes. Cubic Bezier spline… Applies a Cubic-Bezier spline interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. Catmull-Rom spline… Applies a Catmull-Rom spline interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. Spherical cubic interpolation… Applies a spherical cubic spline interpolation between the key values of the selected interval. |
- Select the interval between the keyframes that you want to interpolate, as shown below.

- Click the Camera button and then select the required interpolation function in the available submenus.

- Preview your changes to the animated sequence (see Previewing Animated Sequences).
